“World of Warcraft Classic” will be launching sometime this summer and hardcore fans of the franchise are excited to dive deep into the sea of nostalgia. The developers have already confirmed that the game will be similar to what it was 14 years ago, complete with clunky mechanics and goofy-looking graphics.
Indeed, the base of “World of Warcraft Classic” will be patch 1.12, which means this was a time before the Molten Core content was released to players. But this doesn’t mean that Molten Core and other raid dungeons will not make its way in the rekindling. It’s the opposite, in fact.
Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Ahn’Qiraj, and Naxxramas Raid will all make their way at some point after the release of “World of Warcraft” classic. However, Blizzard didn’t provide an exact road map when all of these instances will be introduced.
To explain their silence, the game’s community manager said that since they don’t have any concrete information to offer the players at this time, they’ve elected to remain reticent about the matter. But, they did assure that development of “World of Warcraft Classic” is well underway.
Part of the reason why developers are having a difficult time at recreating “World of Warcraft Classic” is the challenge of integrating it in today’s modern technology. They’ve said that they’re going to outfit the game with the same clunky mechanics that it had more than a decade ago.
Deliberately making a game this way is quite the challenge for developers as it is second nature to them to fix old codes if they encounter one. Blizzard developer Omar Gonzalez recounted one such incident during his time recreating “World of Warcraft Classic.”
This is the very first project that the team has tackled through their years overseeing the franchise so it’s understandable that they’re finding difficulty in breaking away from what they were trained for. With summer approaching fast and the fan base growing more restless, Gonzalez and his team are facing tremendous pressure in delivering hard on their promises for “World of Warcraft Classic.”
