“Warcraft 3: Reforged” still doesn’t have a release date yet as Blizzard maintains its silence regarding the remaster. And with the gaming company electing to skip E3 2019, the information drought surrounding the RTS game is expected to last for the next few months.
What’s known so far is that it will come out this year with a beta version arriving before the official launching of “World of Warcraft: Reforged.” While the gameplay will remain the same – barring a few changes here and there – its storyline will be retconned to run parallel to the lore of “World of Warcraft,” Variety reported.
“We’re doing everything we can to honor the original design while we revamp the story, art, sound design, and so much more. Obviously, the [Warcraft 3: Reforged] gameplay will still be identical to the originals,” Blizzard senior producer Pete Stilwell said. In a recent post by Stilwell, the developer said that the arranged team wouldn’t make it at launch despite trying their best to push this feature with the remaster early.
“The team did their damnedest to get Arranged Teams working within the legacy system. We’ve made strides to that end, but were unhappy with the experience. We decided it was more important to get this behemoth of a patch out the door then continue to delay. That means AT will return with [Warcraft 3] Reforged, not before,” Stilwell said.
On top of the announcement, the post also listed bugs and improvement for the remaster, as well as balance changes for the game. As for the upcoming ladder system of “Warcraft 3: Reforged,” no substantial news has surfaced so far. Blizzard has already announced that the game will be added on Battle.net, which will undoubtedly lure more players into the community.
It’s for this reason that some are optimistic about “Warcraft 3: Reforged” opening up the doors for “Warcraft 4.” With the game reaching 17 years old next month, it’s understandable that gamers are wanting a new entry for the RTS game to provide a fresh take on this beloved franchise.
