Unbelievable! Teen Solves Rubik's Cube Under 5 Seconds

Lucas Etter, a 14-year-old from Kentucky, United States, has set a new world record by solving the Rubik’s Cube in just 4.904 seconds. Etter is the first person to break the 5 second barrier for solving a standard 3x3x3 puzzle.

“Fast-fingered Lucas completed the puzzle in an astounding 4.904 seconds during an event at the River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland on Saturday”, said Guinness World Records confirming the feat.

Guinness World Records also pointed out that Keaton Ellis, a fellow speed cuber from Maryland, managed to solve the cube in 5.09 seconds earlier in the day, beating the previous record of 5.25 seconds set by Collin Burns back in April.

World Cube Association, an organisation recognised by Guinness World Records that regulates and holds Rubik's Cube competitions, has ratified the feat.

Lucas says he practices various cubes daily, but specializes in the 2X2 (for which he holds the world record average), 3X3 and 4X4, WTVQ reported. He has been participating in various competitions since the age of 9 and attributes his success to algorithm memorization, spatial skills, muscle memory and lots of practice.
