U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to host a UFC championship fight on the White House lawn in 2026 as part of the nation’s 250th Independence Day celebrations. Speaking at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Trump revealed the surprising idea during a speech celebrating the passage of his new tax and spending bill.
“We’re going to have a UFC fight… on the grounds of the White House,” Trump said, highlighting his close relationship with UFC President Dana White. “We have a lot of land there… Dana is going to do it. A championship fight, full fight, like 20,000 to 25,000 people. We’re going to do that as part of 250 also.”
The plan ties into the broader celebration of America’s semiquincentennial in 2026, a major milestone marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Trump’s proposal aims to blend patriotic spirit with high-profile sports entertainment.
Trump has long been a vocal supporter of UFC and maintains a close friendship with Dana White, who endorsed him during the 2024 presidential election. The president is also a regular attendee at UFC events, most recently making an appearance at a match in New Jersey in June 2025.
While details remain unconfirmed, the idea of staging a major mixed martial arts event on White House grounds is generating buzz across political and sports communities alike. If realized, it would mark the first time in history that a UFC event takes place at such a prominent national landmark.
With Trump’s influence and White’s promotion power, the potential UFC-White House event in 2026 could become one of the most iconic moments in both political and sports history.
