Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is set to visit the White House on November 18 for an official meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a White House official. The high-level talks are expected to focus on strengthening U.S.-Saudi relations, potential defense agreements, and discussions surrounding Saudi Arabia’s possible inclusion in the Abraham Accords.
President Trump has been actively encouraging Saudi Arabia to join the accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco in 2020. However, Riyadh has remained cautious, insisting on progress toward a Palestinian state before formalizing ties with Israel. In a recent interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes, Trump expressed confidence that Saudi Arabia would eventually join the historic peace framework.
Another key topic on the agenda is a potential U.S.-Saudi defense pact. According to the Financial Times, both nations are exploring the possibility of signing an agreement during Crown Prince Mohammed’s visit, although final details remain uncertain. A senior U.S. official confirmed that discussions are ongoing, with the possibility of “signing something” still on the table.
Saudi Arabia is seeking greater U.S. security assurances and access to advanced military technology. As one of America’s largest arms buyers, the kingdom continues to play a pivotal role in maintaining regional stability. During Trump’s visit to Riyadh earlier this year, the United States agreed to a massive $142 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia, underscoring the deep-rooted defense partnership between the two nations. The upcoming meeting could mark a significant milestone in reshaping the Middle East’s geopolitical landscape and further solidifying U.S.-Saudi strategic ties.
