Is Steven Yeun making a comeback in “The Walking Dead”? The brutal death of his character, Glenn, at the hands (and bat) of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was deemed among the heartbreaking exits in TVlandia. But showrunner Scott Gimple teased that there is a possibility for Glenn to return to the series.
Michael Ausiello of TVLine first got the scoop and wrote back to a fan, “As Maggie (Lauren Graham) gets closer to giving birth, it’s “certainly possible,” says EP Gimple, that Steven Yeun might reprise his role for some newly created flashbacks or a vision or something. “I’d be silly to say it isn’t.” But, if a Glenn sighting were to be tied to his baby’s arrival, you could have quite a wait ahead of you. “She might not be that close,” Gimple hastened to add. “Things have been moving pretty quickly, but not a lot of time has passed.””
Moreover, Gimple’s words also revealed that the show will definitely experience a time-jump. Digital Spy noted that in the comics, Maggie gives birth to her baby, which will be delivered by Hilltop doctor Harlan Carson (R. Keith Harris). The baby is said to be named Hershel, which is after Maggie’s father. The birth will happen after the all-out war between Negan and Rick (Andrew Lincoln).
However, Gimple did say that they might do a variation or two with the TV adaptation. He added, “We're doing the book, we do all sorts of variations on it, and then we do things that are inspired by it and then we change things up with a remix. But I will say there are things that happen in that time jump that are referred to that are super interesting. And thus we might see some of that stuff; it might not be the same sort of jump, or we'll do that two to five years in real time.”
