“The Walking Dead” showrunner Scott M Gimple recently agreed that Season 7 Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is becoming more and more like the zombie drama’s latest villain, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Digital Spy notes that as Rick and Negan go head to head in Season 7, we’re most likely going to be seeing more dangerous decisions as Alexandria, Hilltop, and Kingdom unite against the Saviors and Scavengers.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, he said Rick’s actions as of late gets morally greyer as season progresses. But the distinction, he said, is their “philosophies.”
He explained, "What's interesting is, I think for Rick's experience, he's justified in what he's doing. The world has formed him this way, and what he's done has generally been a reaction to being threatened and trying to make sure his people live. Things are getting greyer and greyer and greyer. But I think the things that Rick has done, you can hold up against the things that Negan has done and it's not a vast gulf between those two, but the way that they operate is very different. Their philosophies are very different, and that's maybe where we see one person being the hero and one person being the villain."
Meanwhile, a fan created a video full of footage from the show’s seasons, summarizing Season 7’s events. The video, aptly named “March to War,” is the same title to comics arc that has yet to be featured in “The Walking Dead,” until Season 8. This arc will reportedly reflect with Episode 100, as "All Out War."
