“The Walking Dead” Season 9 is going to say goodbye to two major characters on the show and one of them is Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). In the previous episode, fans saw Rick exchanging blows with Daryl (Norman Reedus) as their differing perspective regarding Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) fate tipped over, CarterMatt reported.
Their fight caused both men to fall into a pit which they eventually escaped. However, they found themselves threatened by walkers and had difficulty shaking off the horde. As luck would have it, Rick found a horse and told Daryl he was going to lead the undead away from the bridge. However, the tables quickly turned in the latest episode of “The Walking Dead” Season 9 as the horse tossed Rick out its back after it got spooked when it saw a horde of zombies.
The accident caused Rick to land into some rubble where he got impaled on his lower abdomen by a metal pole sticking out of the pile. The episode ended there and fans are left wondering if the injury will kill Rick first or if he’s going to be feasted on by the oncoming undead horde. Fans have been frustrated by this development since they were expecting a nobler ending for Rick in “The Walking Dead” Season 9.
But it seems that the fate of this beloved hero isn’t sealed just yet since the showrunners still need to wrap things up between Rick, Daryl, and Maggie (Lauren Cohan). It’s still unclear how Rick will convince both characters to abandon their thirst for vengeance since his situation is dire at the moment. However, the next episode of the “The Walking Dead” Season 9 might have Maggie rescue Rick since she’s riding close to where he was last seen.
Although showrunner Angela Kang is being tight-lipped about what fans should expect in episode 5, it’s safe to assume that Rick’s dying wish will have something to do with forgiving Negan. This would certainly change the perspective of both these characters, who have been obsessed with the idea of taking Negan’s life. It will also test the bond between the three and will show whether Maggie and Daryl’s love for Rick is far heavier than their desire for revenge. Whatever the case, Rick will highly likely die in the next episode of “The Walking Dead” Season 9, which is slated to air on Nov. 4.
