“The Last of Us Part 2” has reportedly made an appearance in the recently concluded Gamestop Manager Show. The show – as its name implies – is the company’s way of ensuring that their managers are knowledgeable about the game so they can talk about it with potential buyers once it hit the shelves.
Apparently, new gameplay for “The Last of Us Part 2” will be arriving “soon” although there’s no concrete information when that will be. Gaming Forte – one of the people who attended the event – said that the gameplay isn’t extensive but did show a “great vertical slice of gameplay.”
The footage will also highlight the stealth mechanics of “The Last of Us Part 2,” as well as the ability to use clickers to your advantage, Gamespot reported. It’s already been revealed that stealth will be different for this game.
The Last of Us Part 2 to provide a stealth meter
For instance, slipping Ellie through thick foliage will not automatically make her invisible from enemies. Instead, “The Last of Us Part 2” will provide a stealth meter on the side of the screen. The smaller the circle, the less likely you’re going to be spotted. Another core aspect of the title is the smooth transition between cutscenes and actual gameplay, Inverse reported.
It will apparently be so smooth that it will be difficult to tell which is which. If true, then “The Last of Us Part 2” will offer an immersive experience, unlike anything we’ve seen before. With gaming graphics and computer hardware seeing tremendous progress in the past decade, it’s not surprising that developers are able to create such a transition in the game.
Add the fact that “The Last of Us Part 2” has been created to take advantage of the PS5 and Scarlett’s new specs and this speculation becomes more plausible. And since we’re talking about the franchise, expect to see another gripping narrative from Naughty Dog. There have been multiple hints from voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson that this game will be an emotional rollercoaster, with twists that will supposedly blindside even the most hardcore fans.
The Last of Us Part 2 has a strong chance of snatching Game of the Year
With regards to the release date of “The Last of Us Part 2,” nothing has been confirmed on this end. However, speculations are heavily leaning on February 2020. It was supposed to hit the shelves this November but “Death Stranding” already snatched that window, so Sony and Naughty Dog decided to push the title next year.
Besides, co-game director Anthony Newman said there’s still some work to be done in the game anyway, so there’s no point in rushing it out. This is especially true as “The Last of Us Part 2” has a strong chance of winning Game of the Year. Of course, with “Cyberpunk 2077” also gunning for the award, it would be interesting to see which of these two would come out the victor.
