In terms of titles that gamers are really looking forward to, “The Last of Us 2” would easily qualify as one of the most highly anticipated. This is the sequel to one of Naughty Dog’s most emotionally charged games. However, there might be a few issues about the title that players of the first one might have a problem with. Top among them is the possibility that Joel will not be playable at all.
For those who have never played the first game, Joel was basically the character that gamers took control of for most of the game. In a DLC, fans got the chance to take the reins of Ellie. However, as PushSquare reports, it would appear that “The Last of Us 2” will put this order in reverse and only allow players to control the girl.
Before anyone loses their minds over this, it’s worth pointing out that Ellie is no damsel in distress. She can be as brutal and ruthless as any man, even more so when push comes to shove. This should make sure that “The Last of Us 2” will be as unforgiving an experience as the first one was. What’s more, it’s quite possible that the developers were just joking.
This particular tidbit about Joel possibly not being in “The Last of Us 2” as a playable character comes from creative director Neil Druckmann. Last year, he said that Ellie would be the only one that will be available for players to control. However, this might have simply been a way for the developers to maintain secrecy and keep fans engaged.
Another point that’s worth considering is the possibility of “The Last of Us 2” being a cross-generation game. This basically means that it could release for both the PS4 and the PS5. If it does, players will find themselves in a dilemma of which version they should get.
