Last Jedi” was released. The new “Star Wars” trailer is for the 40 year-old sci-fi franchise’ eight installment, which features the legendary Skywalker family, which was first released at the film’s panel at the “Star Wars” Celebration in Orlando, Gizmondo reported.
The film will obviously pick up from the events of “The Force Awakens.” Naturally, fans were focused about what happened after Rey (Daisy Ridley) introduced herself to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who has since left the Resistance and opted to live like a reclusive hermit at a deserted island.
Hamill, at the panel, introduced Ridley as “My daugh--," then stopped, to the shock of fans, The Chicago Tribune said. Actor Josh Gad, who moderated the panel, then rapidly asked a series of questions to Ridley:
“Is your name Rey Skywalker? Is your name Rey Kenobi? Who doesn’t know their own last name?”
The questions were left unanswered.
One of the few confirmations in the Celebration though is that the First Order will definitely make things difficult for the Universe, including the resistance. According to “The Last Jedi" writer/director Rian Johnson, "They're making big moves at the start of the film.” This seems to be the case if we based it on the trailer, which featured shots of spaceships skimming across planets, a very determined and unmasked Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn still recovering from his injuries, Poe (Oscar Isaac) and BB8 on the run and seeing the X-Wing getting destroyed, and Hamill as Luke Skywalker in full regalia, albeit very haggard, uttering the words, “It’s time for the Jedi to end,” Buzzfeed notes.
“The Last Jedi” will be released in theaters on December 15 this year.
