One of the biggest anime news in 2019 was the announcement of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2. The anime debuted five years ago, and despite its success, the making of its second installment was not confirmed or officially discussed with the fans for more than five years.
It was understandable if some fans thought “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was never happening, given the amount of time that elapsed since the first season concluded. Other fans, however, remained hopeful especially when the anime movie “The Girl Who Calls the Stars” premiered in 2017.
'The Irregular at Magic High School' season 2 episode count, plot
The announcement of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 last October included the list of the cast and production team that will be working on the new episodes. It was confirmed that the original voice actors will reprise their roles along with the creative staff and Eight Bit studio that worked on the 2017 movie.
Other details such as the official episode count of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 remains unknown. But with the report that it is set to only use one story arc as source material, fans can be certain that the number of episodes would be cut down in half compared to season 1.
The first season had 26 episodes that covered five story arcs from eight volumes of the light novel series. “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2, on the other hand, will only base its story on the Visitor Arc from volumes 9 to 11. With that, it only makes sense to escape just a one-cour run that usually has up to 13 episodes only.

'The Irregular at Magic High School' season 2 release date
The good news is “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 is confirmed to premiere in 2020. A specific release date has yet to be announced by Eight Bit. But since the announcement was made this fall, the worst case would be a full year of production with the anime getting a premiere schedule sometime in fall 2020.
