Fans are eagerly waiting for “The Elder Scrolls 6” are advised to be patient by Todd Howard since the game will not be arriving soon. In fact, judging by the previous statement of Bethesda’s SVP of Global Marketing and Communications Pete Hines, the next installment could arrive sometime between 2024 or 2025.
Gamers, of course, are groaning at this news since “Skyrim” is nearing eight years old. One of the major reasons for the delay is due to the ambitious vision of Howard for “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
“I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, 'That sounds like you don't even have the technology—how long is that going to take?’ “And so it's something that's going to take a lot of time, what we have in mind for that game,” Howard said. In his recent interview with IGN, the 48-year-old video game designer discussed the technology behind “The Elder Scrolls 6” yet again.
The Elder Scrolls 6 and the GAAS model
He said that with the ambition they have for the next entry, it'd likely help the game stay relevant for at least ten years, Gamingbolt reported. Hopefully, Howard isn’t talking about “The Elder Scrolls 6” being given a GAAS (games as a service) model.
For the unaware, GAAS games are titles that have little content from the get-go and relies on constant update from the developers to provide fresh content for players. GAAS models have become a plague in the gaming community as content would usually be released in incremental amounts in an attempt to keep the game relevant through the years. Gamers, of course, absolutely despise this practice as studios would usually release titles that are incomplete. If they’ve paid for a complete game, then it’s only right that they receive the full content on day one, yes? Fortunately, Howard hasn’t said anything that hints about “The Elder Scrolls 6” adopting a GAAS model and his confidence about the game’s longevity might be referring to the various mods that kept “Skyrim” alive all these years.
The Elder Scrolls 6 and its possible location
With regards to the location of the game, nothing has been confirmed on this front either. But going by the vague trailer of “The Elder Scrolls 6,” we could be revisiting the regions of Hammerfell or High Rock as the environment in these regions mirror what’s been showcased in the short teaser video. Sure, both these places have already been the setting of “Daggerfell,” but the developers could be looking to revisit the place, which could prove interesting since graphics have drastically improved since 1996.
