A new set of posters for Marvel’s superhero series “The Defenders” appears to suggest that there’s more in store for Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Matt Murdock, and Danny Rand after the upcoming reunion.
Konbini noted that the posters showcased each hero posing against a neighborhood backdrop. However, the posters have them posing in unfamiliar settings. For example, Murdock, who is Daredevil in his titular show, is seen sitting on a bench in a bus stop, with the bench showcasing an ad for the show of Jones’ best friend, Trish Walker. Cage, on the other hand, is behind a boxing ring that is similar to Murdock’s practice place. Jones, on the other hand, is seen at the main entrance of Danny Rand’s building. Rand, meanwhile, is sitting cross-legged in front of Jones’ office/home.
As for the group’s mysterious villain, rumors are now swirling about the character of Sigourney Weaver. Although the show made it obvious that she is going to be the baddie in “The Defenders,” many believed that she could be the leader of the notorious The Hand, Slashfilm said.
Mike Colter, who plays Luke Cage in the series, said in an interview, "The villains that we’re dealing with are a combination of several entities, um, and they all have something to do with our separate stories that have played out in each of our own individual series. So this has been going on for a while. It wasn’t obvious each individual series, but in this series you’ll find out that the things that happened to all of us basically we’re all because of one entity and that’s what’s gonna kind of tie things together and then we’ll see that, we’ll understand that, and before you know it, eventually we’ll fight together or not."
