‘The Catch’ season 2’s episode 3, titled “The Dining Hall,” will follow Alice as she hunts down her own brother. Meanwhile, actress Mireille Enos talked about the series’ lighter shift in tone in a recent interview.
The synopsis for “The Dining Hall” posted on TV Guide reads, “Alice (Mireille Enos) discovers some very hard truths about Tommy (T.R. Knight), and Val digs into the past to help with his case.
Meanwhile, relationships are tested as Margot (Sonya Walger) and the AVI team have to navigate their current realities; and Ben (Peter Krause) and Rhys' (John Simm) latest con may be too risky.”
The upcoming episode will follow Alice as she attempts to go after her own brother Tommy when she discovers what he did in the previous episode. According to Christian Post, Alice was concerned about Ben associating with her brother, considering his criminal tendencies. It seems that Tommy is still adamant about stealing back 3 million dollars and turns to Ben’s partner Rhys for assistance.
In the promo, Tommy and Rhys are seen talking about the money in an offshore account. Rhys then asks Tommy, “And you want me to help you…” Tommy adds, “Disappear.”
In another scene, Alice warns that it would be best if nobody was around when she manages to catch Tommy after he flees. She then screams into Rhys’ ears, “Tell me where my brother is! You’re either hiding him or helping him!”
By the end of the promo, Rhys pleads to Tommy, “You don’t have to go through with this.”
It looks like episode 3 will be a wild goose chase between Alice and her brother. It will be interesting to see how this family affair pans out especially that a drug cartel has also set their sights on Tommy and the drug money.
Meanwhile, Mireille Enos talked about the series’ shift in tone during a recent interview. It was previously announced that season 2 was rebooting the series to be a more light-hearted comedy.
During an interview with USA Today, Enos said, “When we shot the original pilot, it was much darker, moodier and Hitchcockian. And then the producers decided that they wanted it to feel lighter, so there was a reset before we started shooting Season 1.”
She continued, “There were very dramatic moments. We were dealing with this betrayal. But also there was a lot of levity, and it felt like that's where the show was really singing — when we embraced that lighter tone. So (for) Season 2, we did a full commitment to that. It's very fun and bubbly. There are moments that are bordering on farce.”
When asked about the changes between Alice and Ben, Enos replied, “She and Ben are together. They're a couple. They're in love. Life gets complicated because Ben makes a deal with the FBI, and he's acting as a mole, so they can't be together as much as they'd like, but she's happier.”
She added, “The other big change comes when T.R. Knight enters the scene. He plays her brother, so you get a window into where Alice comes from, her scrappy beginnings. We're different with our family than we are with other people. We have to watch her cleaning up after him.”
‘The Catch’ season 2’s episode 3, titled “The Dining Hall,” is scheduled to air on March 23, 2017 on ABC. It was directed by Jann Turner and written by David Hemingson. It will be followed by episode 4, titled "The Family Way," scheduled to be released on March 30 and directed by Allison Liddi-Brown.
