‘Teen Wolf’ season 6 is set to feature the return of Dylan O’Brien as Stiles as confirmed by showrunner Jeff Davis. New photographs with O’Brien on set have been recently released. Meanwhile, Tyler Posey’s Scott is reportedly staying single in the incoming season.
According to MTV.com, O’Brien is officially back for the incoming season of ‘Teen Wolf’. Davis revealed that O’Brien’s Stiles Stilinski will be an important character in season 6.
Davis said, “Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season’s mystery revolves around him… We’re going to see just what Stiles’ friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia. We’re going to see why exactly he’s Scott’s best friend, what it means that he’s Malia’s human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won’t-they relationship is with Lydia.”
Photographs of O’Brien as Stiles have also recently been released. Stiles is one of the main characters in MTV’s television series together with Tyler Posey’s Scott McCall.
Stiles is Scott’s funny and outspoken best friend who helped him cope with the challenges of being a young werewolf. In Season 3, Stiles met his death only to come back to life to save his father from the Darach. He was also possessed by a Nogitsune at one time but has fully recovered.
Rumors of O’Brien dropping out of the show emerged following his freak accident on the filming set of the upcoming science-fiction film ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’. According to Huffington Post, the 24-year old actor sustained serious injuries, including broken bones, during filming of a scene involving cars. The accident was blamed on the film production company’s failure to secure safety for workers on the film set.
This prompted the film’s delay to January 2018 – a year longer than its original scheduled release for February 2017. It currently has an unknown status on IMDB. O’Brien’s fate on ‘Teen Wolf’ also hanged in the balance until it was confirmed that he will return for another season.
Meanwhile, Posey talked more about his role in the sixth season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Posey said, “The first half of season 5, when Theo infiltrated his life and tried to take over Beacon Hills, that really messed Scott up… He was just a little bit darker. He’s wiser, if that makes any sense.”
He added, “He’s rebuilt. Everything that happened in season 5 made him stronger so when season 6 comes up, he’s got a good head on his shoulders, nothing bad has happened in Beacon Hills lately, so he’s feeling confident about that. He’s in a pretty good place. When we pick up with him, he’s somewhat happy, which is sort of unusual for Scott.”
It was revealed that Arden Cho’s Kira, Scott’s on-screen love interest, will not be returning for the new season. Davis admitted that this would mean Scott will remain single for the rest of the season saying, “When we realized that the show wasn’t going to have Kira Yukimura this season, we wanted to ask ourselves, ‘Does Scott always need to have romance in his life to be a compelling character?’ We thought this might be a season where we don’t see that side and we see him struggling a little bit.”
Davis added, “…this season sees Scott as a single guy just trying to graduate and be there for his friends while facing yet another supernatural crisis.”
‘Teen Wolf’ is a supernatural teen drama and comedy television series developed by Jeff Davis for MTV. Season 6 was renewed last July 2015 and will contain 20 episodes.
