Taylor Swift erased from Nashville mural that honors music legends

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift was removed from the popular Nashville mural after it was set to undergo some changes. It was revealed that the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer will be covered up and replaced by Brad Paisley.

The said iconic mural features the music legends in Nashville and can be found at the Legend’s Corner near the Ryman Auditorium and Broadway. Work is now underway, and everyone can expect Paisley’s image that was once has been Taylor Swift’s spot.

The change in the mural - Why Taylor was replaced

As per Fox17 News, currently, the mural features 14 of the US’ biggest country musicians. Now it is being revised to add new artists.

It was decided that Taylor’s image would be retired, and in her place, three new stars are set to be added. Brad Paisley was already confirmed, while the other two new additions are not yet revealed.

So far, only four women were featured in the “Legends” mural, and Taylor Swift was one of them. The other three include Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Reba Macintyre. Artist Tim Davis is the one who will modify the mural, and he chose to retire the 31-year-old songstress’ image to make way for the new faces.

Fans react to the change and Taylor’s removal from the mural

Fans have different reactions to the revision, and most were surprised. One left a comment that seems to suggest it was not right for Brad to replace Taylor in the mural, saying that “as if Taylor hasn’t always been more popular than him.” Others agreed that it is just right to remove Taylor Swift because she doesn’t really sing country anymore.

“Amongst country music fans Brad is way more deserving, plus the only people complaining aren’t very big country fans,” one fan said. “Vocally she’s great but musically Brad blows her out of the park in the simple fact that he can play every instrument in his band.”

Then again, there is an uproar on Taylor Swift’s removal from the Nashville mural since it honors country music legends, and many feel she should still be part of it.

"Taylor Swift did not become the first woman to be awarded the Pinnacle Award and contributed so much to country music only to be replaced on a Nashville mural, utter disrespect," a fan tweeted.

Meanwhile, Davis confirmed to USA TODAY that the change in the mural is final. Still, Taylor Swift’s fans find it unfair when she even received an award from the CMA in 2013.
