Shia LaBeouf reportedly wants to be treated as he knows he needs help. This comes after his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against him for physical, mental, and emotional abuse.
The lawsuit against Shia
As per the New York Times, FKA Twigs alleged that she was repeatedly abused while in a relationship with Shia LaBeouf. They were together for nearly a year, and it was only recently that the singer decided to sue her ex.
Some of the incidents she cited in her lawsuit include an assault at a gas station because she tried to run away from Shia, who was recklessly driving the car. She said she was threatened while they were on the road.
He said he would crash the vehicle if she does not profess her love for him, so when they stop by a gas station, she attempted to get out and collect her bags, but the actor assaulted her and forced her to get back in the car. Another time, Shia LaBeouf woke her up in the middle of the night, and he was choking her.
FKA Twigs revealed that she remained silent and did not report the abuse because she was worried it would ruin his career. But now, she is speaking up and explained she decided to finally sue Shia La Beouf because she wants to raise awareness that even a renowned actor who has money, a home, and strong supporters could be abusive too.
“I’d like to be able to raise awareness on the tactics that abusers use to control you and take away your agency,” FKA Twigs said.
Shia’s response to the lawsuit and seeking treatment
In response to the lawsuit, Shia LaBeouf simply said that he no excuses for his aggression or alcoholism. It turned out that the actor really has issues even at work, and in fact, he was removed from Netflix's awards consideration page.
He was also reportedly fired by Olivia Wilde from the film “Don’t Worry Darling.” It was suggested that he was replaced by Harry Styles, not because of a scheduling conflict like what was reported. The truth is - he was really difficult to work with.
Now, it was said that Shia LaBeouf is seeking long-term treatment, which means he would check-in at a rehab facility in an attempt to straighten his life.
"Shia needs help and he knows that," his attorney told Variety. "We are actively seeking the kind of meaningful, intensive, long-term inpatient treatment that he desperately needs."
