As Meghan Markle returned on “Suits” Wednesday, some people can see parallels of her character’s onscreen relationship with Mike, played by actor Patrick J Adams in the series, to her blossoming relationship with Prince Harry. Pop Sugar noted that the relationship between Markle and the royal prince is getting serious, starting with her extended vacation just after the holidays in London, her reportedly introduced to some members of the Royal Family, and the fact that earlier, Prince Harry has issued a statement to the press regarding nasty, racist reports about his girlfriend.
In the show, Markle’s and Adam’s characters are in a relationship. One story arc in the show will feature their relationship struggles following Mike’s recent incarceration, and Markle’s character receiving a tantalizing job prospect outside the law firm she and Mike formerly worked together.
Bobby Finger for Jezebel wrote, “She (Markle as Rachel in the series) begins the episode with a visit from her very successful father who is begging her to work at the family law firm and not the one that Harvey (sort of a brother character to Mike, played by Gabriel Macht) runs. Rachel resists, because Harvey’s firm is her home...or something. I didn’t fully understand her reasoning here, but took it to symbolize Meghan Markle’s brave decision to abandon her family’s generations-long trade (being peasants like us) and climbing the United Kingdom’s social ladder all the way to the top by marrying into royalty.”
Daily Mail also noted that the several promos appears to pay homage to rumors about Markle’s and Prince Harry’s future. In one video clip, Markle is seen in a wedding gown. Markle and Adams’ characters are recently engaged in the legal drama.
One insider told E! News that the royal prince and actress are very much in love, and that it wouldn’t be so surprising to expect a royal engagement announcement sometime this year.
Another also said, "Harry is more serious [about Meghan] then he ever has been about a woman before. It wouldn't surprise me if he's already thinking about engagement just because that's where his head goes."
