‘Stranger Things’ season 2 is set to feature the return of Noah Schnapp as Will Byers. The young actor teased that his character may or may not become a monster following the events of season 1. Director and executive producer Shawn Levy also teased that season 2 will be a “bigger and darker” season.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Noah Schnapp confirmed that has been promoted to series regular for the incoming season of the hit web television series on Netflix. Schnapp played Winona Ryder’s on-screen son Will Byers, a young boy who vanished suddenly prompting friends and family to go on a desperate search in order to rescue him.
Schnapp teased, “You’ll be seeing more of me. I’ll be there… In the last episode, I threw up a slug, so Season 2 begins with what happens from there. There may have been some effect on him. I may or may not have turned into a monster. You’ll have to watch to find out.”
Director and executive producer Shawn Levy also revealed that season 2 will be “bigger” and “potentially darker” than its predecessor. He said, “The threat, which in Season 1 was to Will Byers, has grown. That’s all I’m going to say! But, I will say Season 2 has a bigger cast and is definitely loyal to the kind of magical storytelling that we established in the first season. It’s character-based and still about our core group of characters.”
Original cast members Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, and Matthew Modine will be returning to the series while Schnapp and Joe Keery have been promoted to series regulars as well. It was reported that they have been filming in Atlanta for the past three months.
According to Den of Geek, Brett Gelman, Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Linnea Berthelsen, Sadie Sink, and Dacre Montgomery will be joining the growing cast in the incoming season.
Netflix is yet to confirm an official air date for the return of the science-fiction and horror web television series but it has been revealed that it will continue where season 1 left off. Co-creator Matt Duffer previously teased, "Season 1 actually takes place over the course of six or seven days - it's a really short period of time… So part of what we want to do with hypothetical (yeah right) Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened."
‘Stranger Things’ season 2 is expected to debut on Netflix sometime in 2017. The web television series was created and executive produced by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer.
