‘Stranger Things’ season 2 actor David Harbour recently debuted the newest addition to the growing cast. Meanwhile, Netflix’s content boss Ted Sarandos promised a “fantastic” first episode that won’t disappoint fans of the popular web television series.
Harbour has previously confirmed his return for the second season of Netflix’s critically-acclaimed and highly popular science-fiction and horror web television series as Sherriff Jim Hopper, the chief of Hawkins Police Department who helped save Joyce Byers’ (Winona Ryder) son Will (Noah Schnapp) from death in the Upside Down.
According to People.com, the 41-year old American actor took to Instagram to share a casting spoiler for season 2. He jokingly announced that his co-star Ryder has been replaced by a fluffy dog. He posted an image of himself holding up a Pomeranian with the caption, “Bittersweet season 2 spoiler. Joyce has been recast for season2.”
Fans of the series can be assured that Ryder will be returning to play Joyce, especially considering the fact that she garnered praise and a stronger fan base as the bedraggled mother of a lost child in the first season. It was previously revealed that Will will be experiencing some post-traumatic moments as an aftermath of his near-fatal escape from the terrifying world of the Upside Down. Surely the young boy will need his mother to protect him.
Although details of season 2’s storyline remain elusive as of the present, the series’ Super Bowl teaser revealed that a massive new monster will be arriving in the small town of Hawkins. The final flash from the trailer’s ending scene showed the monster appearing before Will in a blood red sky.
Creator Matt Duffer teased in a previous interview, “In season 1, Will is in danger… And season 2, it’s the town. The stakes escalate in that way.” Duffer co-created the series with his brother Ross.
According to Metro, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos expressed his excitement for season 2 during an interview with NME. He said, “I have just seen the first episode of season two. It’s fantastic – it delivers on everything that every fan wants. We have a sense that it’s going to be really big.”
Netflix’s co-founder Reed Hastings added, “We have a sense that it’s going to be really big. The reaction and momentum internally in Netflix is building.”
‘Stranger Things’ season 2 is expected to premiere on Netflix on October 31, 2017.
