Video game fans might soon learn more about Hideo Kojima’s process of conceptualizing his iconic projects, thanks to an upcoming podcast show. The program will stream exclusively on Spotify, with the first episode going live soon.
Spotify and Kojima announced their partnership earlier this week for the upcoming Spotify Original podcast titled “Brain Structure.” While video games will likely be the common topic to be discussed in the program, the streaming giant said Kojima fans can expect more.
“Fans can tune in for talk show–style discussions on a wide range of his favorite topics, including games, movies, books, art, philosophy, and the social landscape,” Spotify said in an announcement post. Fans who follow Kojima on Twitter should know the video game icon has great insights about different sorts of topics. And in a video announcement, Kojima said the podcast show will welcome “very special guests from various fields.”
Kojima’s good friend and The Game Awards CEO Geoff Keighley will be a regular part of the “Brain Structure” podcast. Spotify said Keighley will be hosting his own segment in the show that will focus on “latest updates on gaming and technology in a special segment.”
While “Brain Structure” is mainly advertised by Spotify Japan, the podcast show will cater to Kojima fans all over the world. The podcast will stream in Japanese and English languages that will be released simultaneously every week. “I look forward to having a good time getting and sharing creative inspiration with listeners from all over the world,” Kojima added.
The first episode of Kojima’s Spotify-exclusive podcast will be released on Sept. 8. New episodes will be available every Thursday at 9 p.m. JST / 8 a.m. ET.
Kojima is the latest personality to ink an exclusive podcast deal with Spotify. The streaming giant has been making significant moves in the podcast arena in recent years. In June, the company announced its podcast business has generated $215 million in revenue in 2021. Spotify said it is still in “investment mode” in terms of podcasts, but it believes the industry could present opportunities valued at up to $20 billion.
