“Spider-Man Far From Home” will be one of the post-"Infinity War” movies that give fans of the Marvel-verse hope that the smart-mouthed Spider-Man will somehow survive “Avengers 5” when it comes out in May 2019.
“Spider-Man Far From Home” will reportedly focus on an overseas adventure for Tom Holland's Peter Parker in Europe. Michael Keaton, who portrayed The Vulture in “Spider-Man Homecoming,” will return along with Marisa Tomei, who plays Peter Parker's Aunt May.
The cast will potentially be joined by Jake Gyllenhaal, who is said to be in talks to play the movie's new main villain, Mysterio. Numan Acar, who has also been cast for Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin, has also been cast as a character named Dimitri. What role Acar's Dimitri will play in the upcoming “Spider-Man” film has yet to be revealed.
Aside from knowing that Peter Parker will be making a comeback after Thanos' universe-wide catastrophe, “Spider-Man Far From Home” might also bring back some Marvel characters that fans may not expect.
About a month ago, Samuel L. Jackson posted on his personal Instagram page hints that he was filming with the Marvel crew in Watford, England. Considering that the plot of “Spider-Man Far From Home” revolves around Peter Parker's European trip, it could be that Jackson's Nick Fury might make an appearance in the web-slinger's summer movie.
Unfortunately, Marvel Studios' head, Kevin Feige, has confirmed that while Doctor Strange does have a Sanctum location in London, Benedict Cumberbatch's Marvel magician will not be making an appearance in “Spider-Man Far From Home.” Thankfully, Feige does confirm that a second “Doctor Strange” film will be produced, though where it will be situated in the timeline has yet to be confirmed.
Fans looking forward to what the post-Thanos Marvel-verse will be like can look forward to “Spider-man Far From Home” showing in theaters by July 5, 2019.
