Spalding, Crayola Unveils Collaboration for Exclusive Product Release

Spalding

Spalding and Crayola LLC have teamed up and are set to release exclusive sports-related products. The unexpected collaboration was announced on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Spalding is known for its sports equipment, especially its basketball brand, and Crayola has been making crayons and specializing in art supplies since the early 1900s. They have come together to inspire the next generation to let off their creativity.

New Products to Watch Out For

According to Baller Status, they will introduce several items to the market as part of Spalding and Crayola's partnership. These will be one-of-a-kind products that should never be missed. The items are ideal for collectors as well.

Customers can look forward to the release, including colorful basketballs and portable hoops. Everyone can also buy various accessories, such as rainbow-colored basketball nets, crayon-inspired air pumps for the balls, and more.

Release Date and Creativity Campaign Kickoff

Spalding and Crayola will officially launch their partnership via the start of the "Doodles to Dribbles" event. This "design your own basketball" contest will run from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15.

Those who would like to join may sign up at Spalding.com. The companies will pick three winning designs, which will be printed on a Spalding basketball. Spalding and Crayola will immediately send the finished sample to the winners.

Meanwhile, the Spalding x Crayola collection will be unveiled on Nov. 15. Still, initially, only two items - a limited-edition "Colors of Kindness" basketball and a 12-inch Crayola crayon-inspired pump - are scheduled for launch. The rest of the collection is coming in Mar. 24, 2024, and will be available at select retailers and Spalding.com.

"With a focus on growing the game of basketball to a younger audience, we wanted to lean into a creative partnership to help reach kids who may be picking up a basketball for the first time," Spalding's product marketing manager, Ben Simms, Sr. said in a press release. "At Spalding, we want kids to be outside, playing sports, tapping into their imagination, and Crayola was a natural partner that shares these similar values."

Crayola's general manager for domestic licensing, April Heeren, also said, "Crayola celebrates creativity because we believe it is fundamental to developing skills like adaptability, problem-solving, and self-confidence, on and off the court and this partnership with Spalding will inspire kids to get their game on through colorful self-expression and innovative play."
