It’s not surprising that little is known regarding what “Southpark” Season 22 has for its audiences as its creators often keep things under wraps. So far, only the air date of the next installment has been announced, which is Sept. 26, TV Guide reported.
In the documentary “The Making Of/6 Days to Air,” it is revealed that Trey Parker and Matt Stone often opt to write, record, animate, and deliver an episode in just six days. This is quite ambitious given that shows needs to edit and polish a clip before it’s finally broadcasted. But the creators aren’t following this format and it’s safe to say that they’re adopting this procedure for “Southpark” Season 22.
Because of this, episodes of the satire-comedy series often reference current world events and put an exaggerated spin on them. Of course, the creators don’t limit themselves to recent news and are also taking inspiration from past installments as well. “Southpark” Season 22 may very well include a couple of episodes like this, similar to what it did in the past.
Among the most controversial episodes the show has made are “200” and “201.” The controversy stems from the fact that Parker and Stone decided to animate the Muslim prophet Muhammad during the show’s milestone. After its release, radical Muslim website Revolution Muslim warned both creators that they risked getting murdered for such slight. Will “Southpark” Season 22 have an episode that will be as controversial as “200” and “201”?
That is indeed a possibility. However, Parker and Stone will likely focus on Donald Trump in “Southpark” Season 22 given how the previous installment ended. During the finale of Season 21, it was revealed that the United States’ commander in chief is actually Pennywise the clown.
Trump supporters voiced their dislike of Parker and Stone as they repeatedly mocked the current POTUS in the past. Now, that mockery will continue as it’s only weeks before “Southpark” Season 22 returns to the small screen.
