Images from the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie were recently leaked and the internet is having a feeding frenzy over just how ridiculous the Sega mascot looks. Criticisms ranged from just how odd the design choices by the movie makers were to even Sonic’s shoes. Suffice it to say, this films seems to be heading towards an absolute dumpster fire of reception, especially with “Detective Pikachu” to compare it to.
As Comic Book reports, the leaked images were courtesy of the site by the firm Hamagami/Carroll. They have since been taken down but not before the internet could get ahold of them. Since then, word has spread and the images have been shared all over social media. Based on the reactions, the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie is going to absolutely bomb at the box office.
As many users have pointed out, the design of the main character in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie is the biggest issue. Looking at just the leaked images, it would almost seem like Sonic was made by someone who didn’t understand what they were doing. In fact, many have voiced the opinion that the character looked like it was designed by an amateur.
There were also vocal fans who pointed out that there appears to have been no logic with regards to the design choices of Sonic. Many noted that every iteration of the character had a reason for whatever influenced the particular design. In the case of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie, it would almost seem like the design aspects were chosen at random.
With “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie being set to premiere on Nov. 8 this year, the filmmakers do not have a lot of time to make the necessary changes in order to avoid the worst case scenario. As it stands, this film is destined for failure at every turn.
