Song Joong Ki is starring in South Korea’s very first sci-fi movie that was set in space. The film has been titled “Space Sweepers,” and it was revealed that crowdfunding was set up to allow the general public to invest in this movie.
“Space Sweepers” presented an amazing opportunity to the public
This is a rare chance for people to make an investment as it is not every day that the public can is given a chance to take part in funding a blockbuster film. This is even special because the project stars superstar actor Song Joong Ki.
“This is an opportunity for the general public to easily participate in investments in large-scale commercial masterpiece films that were previously limited to existing distributors and investment agencies,” South Korea’s My Daily quoted Merry Christmas, the film distributor, as saying in a statement.
In addition, "It seems that it will create a new breeze in the movie investment market contracted by Corona 19." Currently, many movies are delayed to be released, and the investment of new projects is expected to revitalize the market.
In any case, it was said that the first 1,000 investors who will register in the crowdfunding will be given an exclusive privilege. They will be able to watch the webtoon version of “Space Sweepers” on Daum and Kakao once their funds have been confirmed.
The public can pre-register in Crowdy, a known crowdfunding company licensed by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) in Korea. The pre-registration began on July 22, and the investment will start on August 10.
Song Joong Ki’s movie is set to premiere in autumn this year. There is no exact date posted yet as of this time.
Joong Ki’s new drama role in “Vicenzo”
Once Song Joong Ki is done with promotions, it was reported that his next project is a drama. His agency revealed that the 34-year-old received an offer to be the lead in “Vicenzo” and it seems that the actor is looking at the script with great interest.
Soompi added that Song Joong Ki may be paired up with Jeon Yeo Bin for this drama that is targeted to premiere in December. “Vicenzo” is about an Italian lawyer who deals with the mafia. He is actually a Korean man who was adopted by an Italian family when he was still a child.
