Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s divorce news came out last week, and it was the former who broke the news to the world after filing for separation at the Seoul’s family court. Everyone was surprised even if the couple was previously rumored to have broken up and it seems that the actor’s father was one of the most affected by the split.
It was reported that Joong Ki’s father was not aware of his son’s and daughter-in-law’s divorce, and he only learned about it through the news. Song Yong Gak, the 33-year-old star’s father, was said to have reacted negatively due to shock.
Song Joong Ki’s father’s reaction
As per Allkpop, Joong Ki’s father started to withdraw from the outside world when he heard the news. He refused to leave his home and stop communicating with his friends.
It was said that Yong Gak was so happy the night before his son filed for divorce from Song Hye Kyo. Apparently, he was out drinking with his friends that night, but the next day, when the separation was announced, he does not want to pick up his mobile phone and stayed at home.
Song Hye Kyo’s didn’t know about the divorce too?
There were rumors that even Hye Kyo did not know about her ex-husband’s plans of going to the court to terminate their marriage. Based on the report, the actor applied for a divorce, through his lawyer, on June 26, and he did not tell his ex-wife about this. The actress was informed about it when she arrived back in Korea after finishing her commitment overseas.
Experts explained that Song Joong Ki did it this way so that his divorce from Song Hye Kyo would be processed faster. He wants to wrap things up quickly so they could move on and avoid further damage from both sides. Hurtful feelings will also be minimized if the actor filed it first before his wife could do the same.
It is believed that there will be no alimony and their multi-million assets would be divided, but there are no concrete details yet how this will be done. The ex-couple has a combined wealth of around $115 million.
