The Sirtfood diet has been one of the hottest topics lately because of singer-songwriter Adele.
Adele has been flaunting her slimmer frame by posting photos on her Instagram account.
According to the Daily Express, it is believed that Adele adheres to the Sirtfood diet which has been helping her lose weight.
But, what is exactly a Sirtfood diet?
Nutritionist Rob Hobson told Marie Claire that Sirtfood diet is eating food that is rich in sirtuin activators. Sirtuins are one type of proteins that protect our cells from dying or getting inflamed when we have an illness.
But, research also shows that eating a sirtuin-rich food diet can also help in regulating your metabolism and increase your muscle and fat burn.
Health consultants Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten came up with the Sirtfood diet mainly for healthy eating rather than losing weight.
It might interest you to know that dark chocolates and red wines are rich in sirtuin activators. As always, taken in moderation of course for it to have an effect.
So aside from dark chocolates and red wines, other food in the Sirtfood diet are apples, kale, citrus fruits, rocket, buckwheat, red onion, walnuts, olive oil, medjool dates, tumeric, parsley, strawberries, capers, strawberries, blueberries, soy and what has been tagged as the Sirtfood diet superfood, the Matcha green tea and coffee.
The Sirtfood diet involves daily intake of three sirtfood juices and eating a balanced sirtfood-rich meals.
The Sirtfood diet is not for everybody though as it is not recommended for those with type 2 diabetes. If you want to try the Sirtfood diet but you have a health condition, it might be best if you consult with your doctor first before following it.
As with every diet, diligence is key for it to work and have an effect.
