“Shrek 5” is coming at last after a long delay. The production of the movie finally commenced after Comcast-NBC Universal’s acquisition of Dreamworks Studio was finalized. The sale also includes negotiations for reviving some of the well-loved animations like “Shrek,” “Puss in Boots,” and “Trolls.”
This is really good news for fans who have been waiting for “Shrek 5” in the last nine years. But there is something to be clarified with the return of this film. It should be noted that the fifth “Shrek” movie is not s sequel but a reboot. The two words are different as the latter means a makeover rather than simply continuing the story from where the previous movie had left off.
New writer for fresh story creation
To produce the “Shrek 5” reboot, NBC Universal hired a new writer to make a unique story and add fresh ideas to the film. As mentioned on Collider, the production studio signed up Michael McCullers to head the story and scriptwriting jobs.
Mike Mitchell, the director of the fourth movie called the “Shrek Forever After” positively commented on the addition of McCullers in the team. He said that he believes the writer will come up with an amazing storyline and offer refreshing twists for a new kind of “Shrek” story.
“They’ve got a pretty good story and it’s being written by Michael McCullers who wrote all of the ‘Austin Powers’ films,” Mitchell commented after the new writer was hired. “He came up with a really great idea that they’re exploring and with this detail, the viewers will see a different story that may be filled with twists and other explosive plots.”
Hints on the film reboot’s main plot
Chris Meledandri, the creator of “Shrek 5,” revealed via Variety that the plot is more exciting this time. He explained that while they are aiming for a modern “Shrek” story, the film reboot will still feature scenes that will bring nostalgia.
The executives of the “Shrek 5” movie also shared that this version will surely be fun to watch and will appeal to the younger generation of moviegoers because they will add many scenes wherein they will be able to relate to the situations. Finally, the film has no release date yet, but it is predicted to arrive sometime in 2020.
