‘Shameless’ season 7’s episode 8, entitled "You Sold Me the Laundromat, Remember?", will find Fiona attempting to do repairs on the Laundromat by herself. Meanwhile, lead actress Emmy Rossum, who plays Fiona in the comedy-drama series, was harassed by Trump supporters online for supporting Hillary Clinton in the recent presidential elections.
The synopsis for episode 8 posted on Cartermatt stated, “Fiona (Emmy Rossum) makes DIY renovations on the laundromat; Lip (Jeremy Allen White) goes before the school board in an attempt to get reinstated; Frank (William H. Macy) tries to ingratiate himself back into the Gallagher house; Kev’s (Steve Howey) trust in Svetlana (Isidora Goreshter) wanes further when the van goes missing.”
The incoming episode seems to be entangled with numerous individual storylines for principal cast members specifically members of the Gallagher family. In Fiona’s attempts to take control of her career, she bought a Laundromat from an old lady after learning that it was for sale. However, she learned that managing a business doesn’t come cheap and is bombarded by rising costs of an ongoing renovation.
It seems that Fiona may try to put matters into her own hands and attempts to do the Laundromat renovations herself to cut costs. It would be interesting to see how she manages to do this without any professional help. In the promo, her Laundromat looks to be falling apart.
When Fiona is asked about why she didn’t get her establishment inspected, she only replies, “I didn’t know that I needed one.” After the roof caves in, she falls to the floor laughing.
Frank’s attempts at forming a surrogate family for himself have also gone on a downward spiral. He was kicked out of his own “homeless shelter” after they grew suspicious of his plots of stealing from their “income.” He will then try to return to his family but he may not be welcome there after lying and betraying them.
Meanwhile, Emmy Rossum was subjected to online abuse following Donald Trump’s Election Day win. The 30-year old American actress identifies as Jewish and was a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter.
According to CBS, Rossum posted a screen capture on Twitter of one of the anti-Semitic images sent to her by online bullies following the elections. The hate-post featured an image of the Auschwitz concentration camp with Trump’s logo added in, along with a threatening message that read, “@emmyrossum This is in all of your ilk’s future, you will be seeing a train shortly. Hollywood days of subjugation is over! SEIG HEIL!”
Rossum tweeted in response, “Trump supporters are sending me messages threatening to send me & my "ilk" to the gas chambers & writing hashtags like #sieg hiel". NOT OK.” In another tweet she wrote, “Telling anyone to "get ready for the trains" in reference to WWII is disgusting & offensive. Reporting you to twitter is not enough. Back off.”
‘Shameless’ season 7’s episode 8, entitled "You Sold Me the Laundromat, Remember?", is scheduled to air on Showtime on November 20, 2016. It was directed by Allison Liddi-Brown and written by Krista Vernoff. It will be followed by episode 9, entitled "Ouroboros", scheduled for November 27.
