Russian Post will be integrating blockchain technology into its services of parcel tracking, in a bid to restore the trust of its clients.
Speaking at the Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF) conference – business-accelerator for promising Russian startups, Rodion Shishkov, deputy director of Russian Post, made the announcement, CoinFox reported. He said that Russian Post is seeking to integrate new technologies to stay in the market, despite losing its monopoly of data transfer.
“We want to stay in the market, we want to develop our company and to create new products. If Russian Post did not experiment with new things emerging right now and did not integrate new technologies into its products, it will leave the market”, Shishkov said, as quoted by CoinFox.
Shishkov explained that the integration of blockchain into the service will facilitate more transparency in the company’s activities, helping it to win back the trust of its clients. The company aims to create a service that would benefit the new category of consumers – Internet seller and Internet buyer.
The announcement follows the recently published report from the US Postal Service in which it has suggested that it is considering exploring and experimenting with blockchain technology, particularly regarding financial services, identity services, supply chain management, and device management.
