Reliance Retail will open physical stores next month in Mumbai for its upcoming e-commerce beauty platform Tira, which is expected to go live within the next few weeks.
The exact launch date of Tira’s platform has yet to be disclosed.
Tira, which will offer a selection of premium cosmetic and skincare brands, will feature several technologies and digital innovations, including virtual try-on.
The Indian retail conglomerate has been planning to venture into the e-commerce beauty business since last year to directly compete with local beauty retailers such as Nykaa and Myntra.
Last year, it was reported that Reliance Retail was in talks to take over the rights for LVMH-owned beauty retailer Sephora from Arvind Fashions. But the French beauty chain decided to continue with its existing partnership and called off the deal with Reliance Retail last month.
India’s cosmetics and fashion market is forecast to reach US$190 billion by 2025.
