CBS has not yet made an announcement whether or not it is ordering the production of “Ransom” season 4. Historically, a show’s latest TV ratings and viewership are major indicators of its future.
The third season of “Ransom” on CBS reportedly had an average rating of 0.26 on the 18-49 demographic, as reported by TV Series Finale. While that is reportedly a 1.18 percent increase from season 2’s data, the season 3 average viewership in the United States was at 2.352 million or a 3.89 percent decline from season 2’s 2.447 million average viewers. Does this have an effect on the decision of CBS on whether to order “Ransom” season 4?
Usually, the answer would be yes. However, as TV Series Finale had pointed out, it appears that CBS is not paying much attention to the decline of these numbers. This is somewhat true especially considering that season 2’s and season 1’s average viewership saw a bigger decline — 29.2 percent or almost a million slash in the numbers. But the statistics between season 2 and season 3 were practically maintained. This means there could be more chance that CBS will likely order the production of “Ransom” season 4.
The same news source pointed out that the show is performing much better in the international scene. Aside from CBS, the show about crisis and hostage negotiations is also available in Canada on Global, in France on TF1, and in Germany on VOX. This could mean that if CBS gives up on it, there are other networks that could make “Ransom” season 4 happen. In which case, the US fanbase might continue following the show through streaming platforms if producers would pursue it.

Meanwhile, it is also important to note that CBS usually announces the show's renewal a few months after the latest installment concluded. For example, season 1 ended in April 2017 but reports on season 2’s renewal did not surface until October of that year. Season 3 was only confirmed two months since season 2 finale aired. For now, fans might have to wait a while to hear an official update on the status of “Ransom” season 4.
