Prostate cancer is the type of disease that mainly affects men, and while there is no cure as of now, spotting the symptoms is very important. However, a recent breakthrough suggests that there may be a potential cure for prostate cancer patients soon.

Science Blog reports that a plant found in Pakistan has the potential to cure prostate cancer patients. The plant is referred to by its scientific name, Withania Coagulans, and is often a natural remedy used by shamans for hundreds of years to cure many illnesses from headaches to infertility. The kernels in the plant, also known as Indian rennet, are sold commercially as a natural supplement for regulating blood sugar levels among diabetics. Because of the plant’s healing properties, researchers are now looking into the possibility of the plant being able to treat ailments such as prostate cancer.

Several studies regarding the potential benefit of the plant in treating prostate cancer showed that certain compounds contained in the plant called withanolides were able to slow down the growth and mobility of prostate cancer cells. This would suggest a breakthrough in prostate cancer treatment. Ken Keefover-Ring, he revealed that they now have a better understanding of which compounds can be able to fight against cancer cells. He went on to say that because of this finding, there is now a big search being conducted in medicinal plants.

Scientists are taking part in this search study for these medicinal plants and screen them against cancer cells to check for any activity. While this would be a step in the right direction, Keefover-Ring explained that this would not necessarily mean that these plants will become the new drug for prostate cancer, but there are times where it is.

As prevention is better than the cure, it is important to spot the symptoms before it gets any worse. Sometimes, even the most subtle changes could become symptoms. However, Express reports one of those changes that could mean the presence of the cancer. The report reveals that a weak or interrupted urine flow may be a symptom of the disease.

This is because of the location of the prostate, which is near the urinary and reproductive systems, therefore affecting how often and how much a man would urinate. Blood in the urine and or blood in the semen may also indicate the disease. In the case of these symptoms, it is highly advised to consult a doctor to get a proper diagnosis.
