The “Power” spinoffs are coming and the first of the series will be here very soon. Book II will be the first to be released and it will follow Tariq and Tasha’s story after the death of James “Ghost” St. Patrick.
To tease the fans a bit, Starz already dropped a preview and a full trailer. Both are quite interesting and showed Tariq getting involved again in the crime world. It turned out that the was forced to do this because he wants to get his mother out of jail and she happened to have a lawyer who’s contentment in money is insatiable.
Spoilers and story synopsis
The first part of the spinoff which is “Power Book II: Ghost” has been originally scheduled to premiere in summer but the COVID-19 outbreak halted the production works so it has to be delayed. Starz has now confirmed that they will be pushing ahead with the new release date and more details are being posted as teasers.
The first spinoff will highlight Tariq’s (Michael Rainey) college life as he needs to go back to school or he will never receive his inheritance. His mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) is in jail and he is trying his best to get her out since he knows it was him who killed his own father.
As he has no other means to earn money to pay his mom’s attorney Davis Maclean (Method Man), he went back to selling drugs. He met people with his dealings including a powerful lady called Monet (Mary J. Blige).
“Truly on his own for the first time in his life, Tariq is forced to split his time between school and hustling to pay for Davis MacLean, the fame-hungry defense lawyer,” synopsis of “Power Book II: Ghost” reads. “He is Tasha’s only hope of getting out of jail and escaping prosecution by newly minted U.S. Attorney Cooper Saxe.”

Meanwhile, “Power Book II: Ghost” is confirmed to premiere on Sept. 6 at 9 p.m on Starz. As per TV Line, the next airing date is on Sept. 13 but it will be shown on its regular time slot of 8 p.m.
