PlayStation 5 is the next version of a video game console that Sony is set to release this year. The gaming and tech company already revealed some details about its hardware and technical components and fans are convinced that this the most innovative and powerful gaming gadget yet.

This is because the PlayStation 5 almost has all the features that every gamer wants like ultra-high-speed SSD, custom AMD GPU with ray tracing, integrated custom I/O system and highly immersive 3D audio. Sony stated that with these functions and capabilities, the fifth PlayStation console would allow developers to maximize their creativity too and offer a new kind of gaming experience to console users.

New controller

What’s more, it was revealed that PlayStation 5 would have a new controller and it is called the “DualSense.” It will feature the PlayStation logo to help identify it as part of the PS5 console. Lastly, it will sport a new look and two-tone colors (black and white) with blue background lighting.

“We’ve reached an exciting milestone with PlayStation 5, as we’re starting to ship our new controller in its final design to developers who are implementing its unique features into their games,” Hideaki Nishino, PlayStation’s Senior Vice President, Platform Planning & Management, announced on April 7. “But first, we wanted everyone in the PlayStation community to get a first look at the “DualSense” wireless controller and hear our vision for how the new controller will captivate more of your senses as you interact with the virtual worlds in PS5 games.”

Confirmed Specifications

Last year, Sony already revealed that PlayStation 5 would offer PS4 backwards compatibility and SSD storage plus it will support PSVR. Additionally, as posted on the PlayStation blog, this newest console was fitted with eight-core AMD Ryzen CPU, AMD Radeon’s rDNA 2 GPU, 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and 825GB SSD. Faster uploads and gameplay were made certain with the mention of its RAM and SSD size.

Release date and price

PlayStation 5 is set to be released this coming holiday and this means that it will be out in stores by October, November or December. For the price, some leaked information disclosed that PS5 will be arriving with a price tag of $499.
