“Ozark” season 3 will be returning on the air in a few weeks, and fans are excited since they have been waiting for this time for almost two years already. Netflix released the second season in 2018, so there was a long break, and luckily fans remained patient. It was said that the upcoming installment is all worth the wait.

The good news is that along with the announcement of the series return via “Ozark” season 3; the viewers could be looking forward to more seasons as this was already planned since the beginning. Fans could be treated to five or up to seven more installments, which means a longer time to watch their favorite drama.

This detail was personally revealed by showrunner Chris Mundy to The Hollywood Reporter editorial director Matthew Belloni during the Milken Global Conference that took place in Beverly Hills last year. They just hope that Netflix will not suddenly cut them out from the programming lineup.

"We've always talked about it as five seasons,” the showrunner told the magazine. “It could be four, it could be seven but that always seemed like a good number to us.”

Spoilers and synopsis

“Ozark” season 3 will be darker compared to the previous seasons, and this was confirmed by Jason Bateman, the lead actor, director, and producer of the drama. This is because the protagonist was sucked deeper into the crime world. "It's a drama. It's kind of a dark, dangerous show about a money launderer for a drug cartel," he told Slashfilm.

Netflix Life also shared the official synopsis of “Ozark” season 3, and it reads: “It’s six months later, the casino is up and running, but Marty and Wendy are fighting for control of the family’s destiny. Marty preaches keeping the status quo.”

Furthermore, “Aided by an alliance with Helen and drug cartel leader Omar Navarro, Wendy plots for expansion. But when Wendy’s brother Ben comes into town, everyone’s lives are thrown into chaos.”

The cast lineup

Jason Bateman will still lead the drama as Marty Byrde and his family Laura Linney (Wendy), Sophia Hublitz (Charlotte), Skylar Gaertner (Jonah), Julia Garner (Ruth Langmore) and more. Jessica Frances Dukes and Tom Pelphrey will be the newest series regulars, and as per Deadline, Madison Thompson also joined the cast as Erin, the daughter of Helen.

“Ozark” season 3 will premiere on March 27.
