In true OnePlus fashion, the company has been releasing bits of the OnePlus Nord 2 technical specifications and features on its official channels. Fans may not have to wait for crumbs of teasers, though, as the specs sheet for the upcoming mid-range phone has been leaked weeks ahead of its launch.
OnePlus Nord 2 specs: What to expect
As mentioned in earlier reports, the OnePlus Nord 2 will retain some features that were available on its predecessor. But several notable upgrades are also in the works, according to a leak supplied by Yogesh Brar on 91Mobiles. OnePlus fans might easily notice that the next generation of Nord will offer camera and battery improvements.
The device will reportedly sport a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP mono sensor on the back. There will be a 32MP IMX616 camera on the front for selfies. There is quite a sizeable upgrade on the OnePlus Nord 2 battery as it is expected with 4500mAh capacity, unlike its predecessor with only a 4115mAh battery. OnePlus will also equip the upcoming device with a more advanced Warp Charge tech that supports 65W fast charging.
The OnePlus Nord 2 screen is around the same size as its predecessor, with a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Like last year, it will support HDR10+ content and has a 90Hz refresh rate. OnePlus is expected to offer two variants with a combination of 8GB RAM + 128GB storage for Rs31,999 (around €362 / $430) and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage for Rs34,999 (around €396 / $470).
There are also two standard color options expected, including Grey Sierra and Blue Haze. But the same source said a leather edition would be sold in the color Green Woods. OnePlus had previously confirmed that the OnePlus Nord 2 would be powered by a special AI-enhanced version of the MediaTek Dimenstiy 1200 chipset.
OnePlus Nord 2 release date, availability
The company announced on Instagram that the OnePlus Nord 2 would be unveiled on Thursday, July 22, at 4 p.m. CEST / 7:30 p.m. IST. A recent forum post by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau subtly confirmed that the device will only be sold in Europe and India.
