‘One Piece’ chapter 970 spoilers: The true strength of Oden revealed

One Piece / Facebook

“One Piece” chapter 970 is yet to arrive officially but numerous spoilers have already come out revealing what’s next in Oda’s hit manga series. Apparently, the most awaited event of the Wano arc finally happened as Lord Oden finally faced off with Kaido, the result of their battle will dictate what happens next in “One Piece” chapter 971.

In “One Piece” chapter 970, Oden wasted no time and rushed to Kaido’s palace, along with his loyal Nine Red Scabbards. But Kaido met him halfway which meant that he already knew that Oden was coming.

Oden then realized that he was just lied to by Orochi when he spent those five years dancing in the streets naked. As Kaido revealed, they still lacked manpower at that time and would have been defeated if Oden teamed up with Hyogoro.

While people have described Kaido as a monster due to his strength, Oden was fearless in confronting him even if Kaido was in his dragon form. This could mean that Oden already had a rough estimation of his opponent’s strength via Roger or Whitebeard, according to Inquisitr.

And then the battle between the two groups began. Despite being outnumbered, Oden’s forces were still able to fight evenly with Kaido’s forces.

Kaido and Oden fought against each other for hours showing just how strong the Daimyo of Kuri was. A sniper tried to kill Oden secretly but he was foiled by Shinubo.

Eventually, Kaido was wounded by Oden’s attack. It was the same injury that gave Kaido the scar that hasn’t healed to this day.

As Oden warned Kaido not to set foot on Wano again, someone arrived arrive holding his son hostage. Kaido took advantage of Oden’s momentary lapse in concentration to land an attack on the Daimyo.

The attack knocked Oden unconscious. It later turns out that it was not really Oden’s son but Kurozumi Higurashi who used a devil fruit to change his appearance.

This event also answered previous “One Piece” speculations on whether or not Kaido will fight fairly against Oden. It turns out that even with the title as one of the strongest fighters in the land, Kaido still needed to resort to treachery to win.

With Oden taken out, the Nine Red Scabbards were defeated and captured. The chapter ended with the announcement that Oden and his retainers will be executed by being boiled alive in a pot.

“One Piece” chapter 971 will likely show how Momonosuke and the retainers managed to escape from Wano. The upcoming chapter will show if Oden was indeed boiled alive and what became of his wife, Toki, after the execution.
