“On My Block” season 3 is surely coming as Netflix already announced its renewal on April 29. The announcement came after the streaming network canceled Drew Barrymore’s “Santa Clarita Diet.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “On My Block” season 3 will only feature eight episodes in all. The number is short by two stories as the first two seasons were aired with 10 each.
"It's a special little show. It did pretty well in its first season, but it's actually increased its following quite well in season two and people really have fallen in love with the characters and that cast," Cindy Holland, Netflix originals VP told THR. "It's a great way to provide a window into that world for people who aren't from it and also a mirror for the people who are from it."
“On My Block” season 3 showrunner Lauren Iungerich further said that the cast is very happy and beyond thrilled with the renewal. She promised to make the next season as authentic as possible for all the viewers to enjoy and relate to.
"Four years ago, I had an idea to make a show for teenagers who didn't see themselves represented on TV and to do it right and today we've all watched a generation of kids passionately express how this show makes them feel seen and heard,” she told the magazine. “As filmmakers, we connect people vicariously, so it’s important to get that work right; to ensure it’s being told as authentically as possible.”
“On My Block” season 3 is expected to return with its original cast members that include Sierra Capri (Monse Finnie), Jason Genao (Ruby Martinez), Diego Tinoco (Cesar Diaz) and Brett Gray (Jamal Turner). Support cast like Reggie Austin, Peggy Blow, and Danni Ramirez may come back as well.
“On My Block” season 3 will continue to present a fun-filled series that will be full of surprises. Showrunner Iungerich said that the viewers would see an unexpected twist in the third season. “We have an awesome story planned for Season 3, I think what we have in store is a fun, surprising reveal in Season 3,” she told TV Guide. With regards to the kidnapped kids in the previous season’s finale, she added, “I think they're definitely going to be in danger, that's for sure. But it might not be what you think it is.”
“On My Block” season 3 is coming likely to be released in March 2020. It should be noted that Netflix has not confirmed the air date yet and the specified above is only a prediction.
