What if instead of using a remote control, you can control Netflix using your mind?
It appears that this idea is no longer science fiction, thanks to the folks at Netflix when on Hack Day, a group of employees thought of putting together a headband that would allow you to connect and manage the tv streaming service, Computer World reports.
Tyler Lee at Uber Gizmo explains, “Netflix employees...have put together something called MindFlix...this is a Muse EEG-detecting headband that is worn on the person’s head, and...whenever the person moves their head up or down or side to side, it will let them control Netflix’s interface.”
CNBC said it is not clear whether Mindflix will ever be developed further, or hit retail stands in the future. Brian Heater for TechCrunch said the video itself pokes fun at the actual Hack Day itself, and it simply appears as if Mindflix was just a product of wishful thinking that came through. The short video demonstrating Mindflix’s capabilities almost as if the people behind it didn’t take the Hack Day as serious as developing some future version of media streaming interface.
Netflix has since remained mum about the wearable. But if there’s one thing that’s nice to know, consumers should expect greater, innovative things from Netflix. For now, we may have to settle with Mindflix, a donation splash page that would allow viewers to open their wallets for charities after watching documentaries, a Christmas sweater capable of spelling out messages in “Stranger Things” style, and a “Stranger Things” video game, among other things
