Nike Inc. unveiled its first .SWOOSH drop NFT collection called the “Our Force 1.” This will consist of hundreds of thousands of virtual sneakers of the Air Force 1 models.

It has been months since Nike launched its Swoosh Web3 platform, and now it is releasing its very first NFT collection there. As per Decrypt, the Our Force 1 collection (OF1) will feature Polygon digital pairs that were designed to celebrate the popular Nike Air Force 1 sneaker that was released 41 years ago.

There will be two kinds of NFT drops, and these are Classic Remix sneaker boxes and New Wave boxes. The former contains digital sneakers based on Air Force 1 that was released between 1982 and 2006, while the second type contains kicks that were designed in 2007 and later years.

Moreover, the Classic Remix will offer AF1s with a “nostalgic twist,” and the New Wave will be Air Force 1s that were custom-made and features futuristic designs. All the Nike sneaker NFT collection will cost about $19.82. Although this is about NFTs, the company said it would not be accepting crypto payments for the purchases of the virtual sneakers.

“Nike’s first-ever virtual collection is inspired by the AF1 Low, a classic style remixed hundreds of times since it dropped in ‘82,” .Swoosh tweeted to announce the arrival of the brand’s first NFT drop on its platform. “The #OurForce1 collection features digital renditions of AF1s past, present and future built for the next generation.”

Nike said that currently, it counts about 330,000 members of its .Swoosh community platform. People can easily sign up since it is open to everyone, and there are no fees to pay. Selected members can start minting OF1 boxes on May 8 and, on May 10, the entire .Swoosh community would be able to buy the NFT boxes.

“The OF1 collection shows how Nike will continue to innovate at the intersection of play and culture for the future of sports,” Nike Virtual Studios’ general manager, Ron Faris, said in a press release. “We are exploring new ways to tell stories and create relationships while removing the barriers and limitations of physical products and with more members choosing to express themselves across physical and digital worlds, .SWOOSH is the marketplace of the future.”
