The battle training between Class 1-A and Class 1-B has just ended. And it led to Deku learning more about his quirks, though, there are some things he has yet to understand. Meanwhile, the first teaser for “My Hero Academia” chapter 217 also hints at a new arc focused on a possible new villain.
Weekly Shonen Jump recently issued teasers for upcoming manga chapters, including “My Hero Academia” chapter 217. At the beginning of a new arc, the preview line reads (translation courtesy of aitaikimochii), “Defend civilians against the Villains!! As Deku gets closer to his quirk, with even more power now, where will this take him next!?”
It can be recalled that in chapter 216, Shota begins the assessment of the Class 1-A and Class 1-B joint training by asking Deku about his “new quirk.” Fans know that the Blackwhip is, technically, not a new technique. It was previously used by someone who also acquired the One For All quirk. That means Midoriya has the ability to use other quirks that were utilized by previous users of One For All — an exciting plot for “My Hero Academia” chapter 217 and the upcoming chapters.
However, Deku decided to keep this detail hidden at the moment. Hopefully, fans will learn what his plans are in “My Hero Academia” chapter 217. But it is highly possible he wants to fully understand his powers first before letting other people know about it.
As a new arc begins, it sounds right that Deku begins to master the One For All, as well as the quirks of its former users, while a new threat is on its way. “My Hero Academia” chapter 217 could start off slow but it would not be surprising if it ends with the first look on the next main villain.
Another interesting part of “My Hero Academia” chapter 217 is Monoma and Eri’s meeting. While Monoma was blabbering about defeating Midoriya in the next battle training, Shota interrupted him as he ordered him to meet Eri “tomorrow.” Whether it has something to do with her Rewind quirk will be answered once “My Hero Academia” chapter 217 is out on Feb. 17.
