Japan's leading doughnut chain, Mister Donut, is set to launch two new flavors. The Zaku Mocchi Ring Curry & Egg and Zaku Mocchi Ring Mentaiko Potato & Egg doughnuts are the latest additions to the revolutionary doughnut series with a unique manufacturing method.
With fillings like mellow curry, mild egg salad, and spicy mentaiko potato, these savory treats aim to provide a heartier alternative to satisfy those craving a quick meal, according to Sora News 24.
Introducing the Flavors
The Zaku Mocchi Ring Curry & Egg doughnut combines the flavors of mellow curry and a mild egg salad, creating a delightful and unexpected combination. Topped with breadcrumbs and parsley, this savory treat offers a unique blend of flavors and textures that will surely please adventurous palettes.
For those who crave a bolder flavor experience, the Zaku Mocchi Ring Mentaiko Potato & Egg doughnut delivers a mouthwatering combination of spicy mentaiko potato filling and mild egg salad. Elegantly adorned with breadcrumbs and paprika powder, this doughnut offers a delectable mix of spicy and creamy notes that will leave taste buds wanting more.
The Perfect Balance
According to Mister Donut, these new savory doughnuts are ideal for those seeking a quick and satisfying meal beyond sweetness. However, loyal fans of sweet flavors need not fret, as the popular Zaku Mocchi Ring Azuki & Whip is returning. This doughnut features two types of Hokkaido azuki bean paste in one half and whipped cream in the other, all perfectly balanced and coated with a soybean sugar finish.
The Zaku Mocchi Ring Curry & Egg and Zaku Mocchi Ring Mentaiko Potato & Egg doughnuts are priced at 280 yen (US$1.90) for takeout and 286 yen for eat-in, while the classic Zaku Mocchi Ring Azuki & Whip is priced at 270 yen for takeout and 275 yen for eat-in. These unique flavors will be available for a limited time at Mister Donut stores across Japan starting December 6.
Unconventional Is the New Normal
The Zaku Mocchi Ring doughnut series debuted in June and quickly caught the attention of doughnut enthusiasts with its innovative approach. Using a new manufacturing method, these doughnuts boast two separate fillings piped into a single ring shape, allowing them to remain contained within their respective halves.
This unconventional design enables the enjoyment of the fillings separately or together, adding an exciting twist to the traditional doughnut experience.
Mister Donut recently made waves with the nationwide release of their Pizzatta menu on October 4. Introduced initially as a limited series at select branches in Japan in 2021, these pizzas have undergone a complete revamp, as per Japan Today.
With their unique blend of savory and sweet, Mister Donut's Zaku Mocchi Ring series, Mister Donut is revolutionizing the doughnut shop landscape.
