Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon After Hezbollah Drone Attack

Israel launched strikes on southern Lebanon early Sunday after accusing Hezbollah of firing two drones toward Israeli soldiers stationed inside an area designated by Israel as a security zone.

The Israeli military said the strikes were carried out in retaliation for the drone attack, marking another escalation in tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese group. No immediate details were provided about casualties or damage resulting from the drones.

Ahead of one of the strikes, the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for people near a building in the southern Lebanese town of Arab Salim. Israel said the site was being used by Hezbollah and warned residents to move away from the targeted area.

Hezbollah did not immediately comment on the Israeli military's accusations or the latest strikes.

The renewed Israeli attacks come just days after another military operation targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon. On Friday, Israel said its forces struck weapons storage facilities that it claimed were intended for use by Hezbollah.

The latest exchange highlights continued instability along the Israel-Lebanon front, where Israeli forces and Hezbollah have remained locked in hostilities. Israel has repeatedly targeted sites it says are connected to Hezbollah's military operations, while the group has carried out attacks against Israeli forces and positions.

Israeli strikes have taken a heavy toll in Lebanon since the latest phase of fighting intensified. According to the figures provided, more than 4,300 people have been killed in Lebanon by Israeli strikes since March 2.
