Recently, reports started circulating about the sequel to the critically-acclaimed video game published by Warner Bros., which a leaked Target listing exacerbated. Along with the game’s title, several key details were also accidentally revealed. As a result, it’s not surprising that the publisher decided to go ahead and confirm the existence of the game “Middle Earth: Shadow Of War,” complete with an epic trailer to add effect.
The trailer was Warner Bros. finally announcing the existence of the “Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor” sequel, which has been rumored for months, GameSpot reports. The video shows what appears to be an Elven lady giving a monologue about how Sauron was coming back and that the “World of Men” was about to end. Anyone who watched Peter Jackson’s movie trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books will immediately find the theme nostalgic.
In any case, the clip is all CG, with no gameplay footage of any kind. It would seem that this content will come out on March 8, at which point, fans will hopefully be treated to the updated combat system and a few other goodies. Michael de Plater, the vice-president at Monolith Productions provided a few details on what players can expect from the game in a statement.
"Following the amazing reception to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, we massively expanded every dimension of the game, including the world, the story, the RPG systems, the core gameplay, and of course the personal player stories of the Nemesis System," de Plater said. "As lifelong fans of Middle-earth, we are so grateful to have the privilege to bring to life the most incredible fantasy world ever created in a new way, for a new generation. With Middle-earth: Shadow of War, we can't wait to see the amazing stories players are going to create and share."
The title will reportedly come in four versions, Polygon reports; standard, silver, gold, and mithril. Naturally, customers will get more content depending on the version they get, with the costs rising in concert.
