Additionally, Midamar donates thousands of pounds of meat to charities in an effort to help feed America in the summer months.
"Several charitable organizations have contacted us requesting meat products for their pantries, soup kitchens, community dinners and fundraisers. At Midamar, we believe it's important for businesses to give back to their communities. At Midamar we are proud to be able to support these great causes" said Midamar Marketing Director, Sara Sayed.
Midamar sponsored the Westdale Community Church pantry by donating hundreds of pounds of chicken nuggets to families in need in Iowa. A spokeswoman for the church Deb Osborne stated "Midamar helps us feed many families through our food pantry. The families really love the chicken nuggets. There is a lot of need in our community, especially during the summer when school is out."
Midamar also donated meat products to Masjid Al Noor in Des Moines, Iowa. Masjid Al Noor feeds hundreds of underprivileged children as well as refugees in Des Moines. "We are very grateful to Midamar for the support we received this summer. Midamar donated chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs for our dinners and also to hand out to needy familes" said community organizer, Betty Khan.
Other charities supported by Midamar during the summer are The Mosque Cares, and IMAN Central in Chicago as well as a food pantry in West Virginia. "These are stellar organizations that are committed to serving their communities" said Sara Sayed. "We also support education initiatives and youth activities like the Malaysian Games."
In 2011, Midamar was chosen as the first company to receive the "Distinguished Community Service Award" from the USDA's Center for Faith Based and Community Partnerships "for exemplary work in providing Halal food options for Muslims in America and around the world."
