Michael Schumacher is apparently still recovering from the skiing accident he met in 2013 but official updates on this matter are still elusive. Meanwhile, rumors that his son Mick Schumacher could be joining Formula One in 2019 were recently dismissed by an F1 team consultant.
There have been rumors that F1 teams became interested in recruiting the younger Schumacher since he started garnering wins at the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship. One of those teams eyeing to ink a deal with Mick was believed to be the Red Bull-owned team, Toro Rosso.
Toro Rosso will be needing a new driver after Pierre Gasly was promoted to the main Red Bull team for 2019. According to reports, Red Bull teams’ advisor, Helmut Marko, confirmed they have already narrowed down their options to 10 drivers. Rumors ensued that one of the shortlisted names was Mick Schumacher.
However, Marko immediately dismissed these speculations. “He is not on our list and we have no contact at all with him,” the racing consultant told German magazine Auto Bild (via Grand Prix 247).
Michael Schumacher’s son has yet to comment on reports about his possible F1 stint. But it is also important to note that he is currently competing in F3 and has been definitely proving that he is from a pedigree of excellent racing drivers.

The 19-year-old driver is competing at the 2018 FIA F3 European Championship under the Prema Theodore Racing team. The younger Schumacher has so far won six races and is seeded in the top 2 spot — just three points behind current season leader Dan Ticktum of Red Bull's F3 team, 261-264.
Mick Schumacher still has a chance to improve his standing, with six scoring races remaining before the season ends. The last two sets of races will take place in the Red Bull Ring in Austria and in Germany’s Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg on Sept. 22 to 23 and Oct. 13 to 14, respectively.
In other news, the Schumacher family remains silent about the recovery of the retired F1 legend. Since his 2013 accident, his family has insisted on keeping all details of his treatment and recuperation in private.
Michael Schumacher’s family has neither confirmed nor denied the reports that came out in August claiming that the retired F1 world champion is slowly starting to drive again. Paris Match magazine reportedly spoke to relatives of Schumacher, whose identities were not revealed in reports, confirming that his daily therapy sessions continue.
