Meghan Markle has been photographed with her mom, Doria Ragland, a handful of times ever since she married Prince Harry.
Ragland was also the only member of Markle’s family that attended her royal wedding two years ago. Days before Archie was born, Ragland flew to London to be with her daughter and son-in-law.
The professional yoga instructor was also present at Archie’s christening, and official photos show her with her 8-month-old grandson. However, a source has now revealed that Markle and Ragland are not as close as they seem to be.
While speaking with Us Weekly, the source also said that Ragland has no plans to relocate to Canada so that she could be closer to the Sussexes.
“She is currently giving private yoga lessons to a select few clients. Doria would only see Meghan once or twice a year while filming “Suits” in Toronto. Meghan isn’t as close to her mom as is known,” the source said.
Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle Sr., and half-sister, Samantha Markle, previously revealed that the Duchess of Sussex grew up with their side of the family. It was also Thomas that sent Markle to school.
During Samantha’s interview with Mirror, she lashed out at Ragland for not encouraging the Duchess of Sussex to patch things up with her estranged father.
“She could have said ‘get your dad out here.’ But sadly, there seemed to be a lack of effort. Doria hasn’t tried to mend the rift between Meghan and her dad. I think everyone’s hoping Doria and Meghan would have an epiphany, but I don’t know if it will ever happen,” she said.
Last week, Thomas spoke in the Channel 5 documentary “Thomas Markle: My Story,” where he was asked about his relationship with his ex-wife. The former lighting director revealed that he has written letters to Ragland, but he has never received a response.
Thomas also said that the beginning of his relationship with Ragland went well. But they eventually split because Markle’s mother wanted to move back to the city.
